Whois Privacy Protection, sometimes also referred to as WHOIS or Whois Privacy Protection, is a service that hides the real contact details of domain registrants on WHOIS websites. Without protection, the personal name, home address and email account of any domain name owner will be openly available. Supplying false information during the registration process or changing the authentic details afterwards will just not work, as doing such a thing may result in the domain name registrant losing his/her ownership of the domain name. The policies adopted by the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN), demand that the WHOIS info must be correct and accurate all the time. The Whois Privacy Protection service was launched by domain registrars as an answer to the growing concerns for potential identity fraud. If the service is active, the domain registrar’s contact information will show up instead of the client’s upon a WHOIS lookup. Most domains support the Whois Privacy Protection service, even though there are some country-code extensions that do not.

Whois Privacy Protection in Shared Hosting

If you have ordered a shared hosting from us and you’ve registered one or more domains under your account, you will be able to enable Whois Privacy Protection for any of them effortlessly and to keep your personal info secure. Of course, this can be done only with the extensions that support this option. In your Hepsia hosting Control Panel, you’ll notice an “Whois Privacy Protection” logo on the right-hand side of each of your domains. Its colour will show you if a domain is Whois Privacy Protected or not and in the second case, you can enable Whois Privacy Protection with only a couple of mouse clicks. In this way, you can shield your private data even if you have not activated the Whois Privacy Protection service during the signup process. You will be able to renew or to disable the Whois Privacy Protection service for any of your domain names just as easily.

Whois Privacy Protection in Semi-dedicated Hosting

If you decide to order a semi-dedicated server package from us, you will be able to add Whois Privacy Protection to any of your domain names by taking a couple of easy steps. If you order a registration/transfer during the account order process, you can get the service along with the domain. If you omit this step and you change your mind afterwards, you can order the Whois Privacy Protection service from the Hepsia Control Panel’s Registered Domains section, through which you can administer the entire semi-dedicated server account. This is also the place where you can turn on the Whois Privacy Protection for all other domain names that you register with us after the signup process. Renewing or disabling the Whois Privacy Protection service is just as easy and will take just a couple of clicks of the mouse.
